Name these foster kittens :-)

photo(82)

photo(83)

I asked everyone what I should name my new fosters kittens from All About Animals Rescue, and the suggestions have been rolling in! Today’s the day to vote:-) Pictured above are 2 of the little darlings (the striped tabby is a boy and the gray is a girl) The 3rd one (a black and white medium hair girl) is still a little camera shy. Considering they were found under a garbage dumpster and spent the first 3-4 months of their life living on the street, I’d say they’re adjusting pretty quickly. Let’s work to get them named so they can really feel like they belong 🙂 Listed below are 5 themes to vote on:

The winning names will be announced tomorrow evening!! Thanks for your help!!

Review of THE BARGAIN by Christine S. Feldman and Pinterest Inspired Coffee Table Project

the bargain

THE BARGAIN by Christine S. Feldman is a fun, entertaining romance that I recommend to anyone looking for a quick, light-hearted, love story. Along with the review, I am happy to share my most recent project – an old camping chair renovated into an end table 🙂

Blurb:

Tomboy Shannon Mahoney has always been a lot more comfortable with power tools than high heels or lipstick, and she wishes she could reinvent herself and finally tell her perfect boss, Drew Kingston, she has had a crush on him since high school. But she is just as tongue-tied and awkward around him now as she ever was, and long-familiar patterns are hard things from which to break free…

Ladies’ man Michael is a former bad boy looking for redemption. He is desperate to atone for past mistakes that he made with his family, but younger brother Drew has cut him out of his life and refuses to even speak to him. Which means Michael needs help getting to Drew.

And so he approaches Shannon with a proposition: If she will get Drew to agree to hear him out, Michael will mentor Shannon in how to win his brother’s heart. Suspicious of Michael’s motives, Shannon initially enters into the bargain just to make sure Michael isn’t actually in town to cause trouble for Drew, but the two unlikely allies are surprised to discover they enjoy each other’s company far more than either expected.

Shannon starts to realize that maybe love isn’t about reinventing yourself after all. It’s about finding your perfect match.

Review:

I read the blurb a while ago for THE BARGAIN and immediately added it to my TBR list. I was so excited to finally have the opportunity to read it, and it did not disappoint in the slightest. THE BARGAIN focuses on the main character, Shannon, a woman in her late twenties who lacks confidence in herself and tends to hide behind frumpy clothing and ponytails. Even though she has moved past her high school years, she has discovered that some crushes are hard to let go. After ten years of pining after a man who is now her boss, she is faced with an opportunity to take control of her life when she meets her boss’ brother, a man who tends to get under her skin every time he speaks. When the two agree to help each other, an unlikely friendship is formed that shows romance sometimes comes when it’s least expected.

I loved this story from the beginning. It reminded me of the movie, The Ugly Truth, starring Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl. It had lines that made me laugh out loud and the character’s flaws were realistic and likeable. THE BARGAIN kept my attention throughout and I read it quickly because I couldn’t wait to find out what would happen next. My only complaint is that I wish it was longer because I didn’t want it to end. Though it is an adult love story, the romance part of the story is light and sweet (no love scenes) and I would recommend the book for adults as well as teenagers who are looking for an entertaining romance 🙂 I am glad that I bought a paperback version of the book because it is one that I will want to read again.

BEFORE

I’ve had this folding chair for a while. With an old canvas seat, my grandpa used it to take fishing over the years, and when he moved over ten years ago, he didn’t want to take it and gave it to me. I’ve held onto it with the intention of fixing it up and finally decided that it was now or never 🙂

My original goal was to take off the old, dirty canvas, sand down the rough wood, and reattach new material. I dug out some cute denim material I had in the closet and started to get frustrated when I realized that the wood wasn’t cut even, and one side was wider than the other. After taking measurements, I took the material off again, stared at it for a minute, and then the image of an end table came to me. I remembered that my husband had extra wood panelings in the garage left over from another renovation project, and I immediately got to work.

I sanded and stained the base and stained the panels to match. We had the stain laying around in the garage too, so I didn’t have to spend a penny. I let the stain dry completely overnight, then used heavy duty wood glue to piece the panels together. I also attached 3 wooden panels across the underside to reinforce it. The final step was to glue the table top to the base. The final result was a cute, useful end table that matched my rustic decor. 🙂
